Charity Atukunda is a mixed media visual artist and illustrator based in Kampala. Her work aims to explore and critique ideas, beliefs and systems that govern our lives. Her creative processes involve deep and extensive research to avoid taking any ‘historical facts’ for granted. Her research in turn informs what mediums, forms or materials she uses in order to best communicate her thoughts and ideas. Her style is marked by a conscious use of pattern, symbolism and mythical allusions. Her illustrations have been featured in a number of digital publications such as UNBIAS THE NEWS, CNN, Shado Mag and Vice.
